Second International Scientific and Theoretical Conference "Food Security: National and Global Factors" takes place
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 16-17 October 2020 in Samarkand, the Representation of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in Uzbekistan, together with Samarkand State University, organized the Second International Scientific and Theoretical Conference "Food Security: National and Global Factors" timed to coincide with World Food Day.
World Food Day this year marks FAO’s 75th anniversary and is celebrated under the slogan "Grow, Feed, Support. Together. Our Future is in Our Hands." This year we celebrate World Food Day at an exceptional time when virtually the entire world is fighting the COVID-19 pandemic. The date calls for global solidarity to help the most vulnerable in times of crisis and make food systems more resilient and resilient.
The event is organized online for international participants, as well as taking into account all quarantine requirements during the coronavirus pandemic. Professors from leading universities in the USA, Italy, Japan, Germany, India, representatives of international organizations took part in the conference in a virtual format. There were reports on food security issues.
It was noted that today food security is the most important cornerstone of the national security system of any state. The success and effectiveness of food systems and their value chains depends on the ability of governments, in any setting, to ensure that all segments of the population have access to safe, quality food in the quantities needed to maintain an active and healthy life.
It was emphasized that the successful development of a state largely depends on its ability, regardless of the international situation, to provide all segments of the population with access to safe, high-quality food in the required quantity for an active and healthy life.
