South Korea to invest US$2m into pharmaceutical joint venture in Navoi

An Uzbek-Korean joint venture on production of medications and medical products will be established in Navoi free industrial economic zone, Uzpharmsanoat said.
South Korean investors will invest US$2 million to realization of project, the Uzbek firm said. But it did not elaborate further on the project.
Uzpharmsanoat management also works on joint venture establishment project on production of disposable syringes, needles, and also pharmaceutical glassware.
Programme on modernization, technical, and technological re-equipment of enterprises of pharmaceutic sector till 2011 was adopted in November 2007, it makes provisions for realization of 45 investment projects on 39 enterprises of pharmaceutic sector for a total value of US$26.5 million.
In frames of Programme production of 35 nominations of drug substances from local raw materials was organized on experimental basis of industrial and academic institutions in 2008 and in the first quarter of 2009.
