Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- How to build a medical cluster in Uzbekistan, raise its personnel to the international level, combine treatment, education and science? These issues were discussed at a meeting organized at the National Chamber of Innovative Healthcare with the participation of Professor Choi Jae Wook of Korea University Medical Center.
Today in Uzbekistan he has a special task - Dr. Choi is the project manager for the creation of the National Cancer Center based on the Korean model.
As you know, the Children’s Multidisciplinary Hospital has already been built in Tashkent with the support of the Korean side. Together with the future Oncology Center and other facilities, it can become the basis of a whole medical cluster, which will make it possible to create in Uzbekistan an example of an international approach to modern healthcare.
“The plan to create a medical complex based on the Korean model also includes the organization of a Multidisciplinary Hospital for Adults, a new medical university, and a hostel. In addition, there in the future should be a "Research and Development Center" (Center for research and development), which will deal with research in the field of medicine, including possibly the development of new drugs. All this together forms the concept of "Medical complex", - said Choi Jae Wook during the meeting.
These ideas from the Korean project manager were fully supported by the National Chamber. With its task to develop and introduce innovative approaches to healthcare management in Uzbekistan, the National Chamber is ready to assist in the implementation of such projects.
As the chairman of the National Chamber Rovshan Izamov noted during the talks, the master plan plays an important role in working out all the points related to the success of the project. In turn, Dr. Choi stressed that planning is also the basis for the sustainability of the project, since it is important to lay in it everything necessary for the stable operation of this complex, at least 10-20 years in advance.
Based on the commonality of views, during the meeting, an agreement was reached on the signing by the Korean side of a Memorandum with the National Chamber of Innovative Healthcare on cooperation in order to develop a Master Plan for the project to create a Medical Complex based on the Korean model.
The parties discussed the details of creating a cluster, which will include clinical institutions, a higher educational institution, as well as a research and development center. It was noted that only on this basis it will be possible to preserve the continuity of knowledge that the first specialists of the same National Cancer Center will receive on the basis of clinical protocols provided to them by the Korean side and the skills of effective use of modern equipment.
On the basis of such clinical protocols, adapted to local realities, as well as the entire set of principles of the Korean model of oncology clinic, the training of a new generation of specialists should also be conducted. And not only doctors, but also nursing staff. In addition, scientific work will contribute to the constant advancement of the level of the cancer center.
As noted by R. Izamov, only such an integrated approach will make the future National Cancer Center the best not only in the neighboring countries, but also one of the most advanced in the world. It will allow in practice to test the system of innovative management in healthcare, which is so necessary for modern Uzbekistan.
