A delegation of the CCI of Uzbekistan meets with the leadership of the Union of Craftsmen of Tajikistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 19 September 2020, a delegation headed by the Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan F. Usmanov met with the Chairman of the Union of Craftsmen of Tajikistan Mufarrah Mukhabbatov.
At the meeting, the parties discussed the possibilities of further establishing cooperation between the Association of Craftsmen of Uzbekistan and the Union of Craftsmen of Tajikistan in the field of joint development of topical areas of handicraft in the two countries.
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan provided information on the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan to support and develop the sphere of handicrafts, folk arts and crafts and applied arts, provide employment for the population, especially youth, women and low-income families, the conditions and benefits created for the development of various schools and areas of handicraft in Uzbekistan, as well as measures taken to develop the "Usta-Shogird" system to maintain and preserve a unique heritage in such areas of handicraft as carpet weaving, embroidery, silk weaving, miniature, pottery, ceramics, etc.
At the meeting, F. Usmanov also informed the Tajik side about the First International Festival of Craftsmen held in Kokand in September 2019, which was attended by artisans and masters of applied arts from more than 83 countries. At the same time, it was emphasized that it was decided to hold this festival every two years in the city of Kokand, which creates conditions for the popularization, preservation, and also the revival of handicrafts not only in Uzbekistan, but also in the countries of Central Asia and around the world.
The Chairman of the Union of Craftsmen of Tajikistan M. Mukhabbatov informed about the development of the sphere of handicrafts in Tajikistan and the ongoing work of the association of artisans of Tajikistan in the development of handicrafts in the country.
The Tajik side proposed to develop joint cooperation with Uzbekistan to create conditions for cooperative ties between craftsmen of the two countries in order to exchange experience, organize trainings and master classes for various areas of craftsmanship, as well as joint development of individual craft schools by inviting eminent craftsmen to Tajikistan and Uzbekistan on organization of handicrafts, in such areas as stone carving, making ceramic products, hand-made carpet weaving, etc.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue close contacts and expand cooperation in the field of handicrafts between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, paying special attention to practical assistance to national artisans in the development of new types of products, organizing cooperation ties between craftsmen and the entry of handicraft products to foreign markets.
