Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 18 September 2020, the Committee of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis on Science, Education and Health held a round table on the topic "Openness and transparency of communicating the essence and significance of reforms to the general public." It was attended by members of the Committee, representatives of ministries and departments, as well as media workers.
It was noted that today openness, transparency and clarity of communicating to the general public the essence and significance of reforms through the media and social networks remains an urgent issue. The main principles in this activity are impartiality, consistency, regularity and consistency, scientific and practical justification, mutual trust and respect, mutual consideration of interests and non-interference in the internal affairs of others, freedom and independence of the media.
However, an analysis of articles and speeches published and posted on a number of social networks studied by the Committee shows that in practice, sometimes there are cases such as biased, superficial analysis and erroneous assessment of the situation, exaggeration of minor flaws, creating panic and even publishing a false (fake) messages to attract public attention.
This is largely due to the fact that ministries and departments, state bodies and officials do not pay sufficient attention to timely and detailed informing the population about their activities, do not provide information in a language and in a form understandable to the general public.
At the same time, it is a matter of concern that some ministries and departments do not respond to fair criticism addressed to them and to questions relating to a particular area.
Senators, senior officials, media representatives and bloggers who took part in the round table expressed their views and opinions on the issues discussed. At the same time, proposals were made on organizing the exchange of information between ministries and departments and the population, on ways to convey to the general public the essence and significance of the reforms being carried out in the country in an open and transparent form.
