Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 16 September, with the assistance of the Consulate General of our country, a video conference was held in the Kazakh city of Aktau with the participation of representatives of airlines from Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, as well as the khokimiyat of Khorezm region and the akimat of Mangistau region, Dunyo news agency reported.
In his opening speech, Consul General Nodirjon Turgunov expressed confidence that "today’s meeting will serve as a fruitful platform for raising interregional cooperation to a new level, and the opening of regular flights between Urgench and Aktau will contribute to the development of tourism between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan."
The head of the department for industrial and innovative development of Mangistau region, Nurbek Aitjan, spoke about the current development of Kazakh-Uzbek relations in all areas of cooperation and the achievements achieved with Khorezm region in interregional cooperation and, on behalf of the regional leadership, fully supported the opening of regular flights in the direction of Aktau - Urgench.
At the videoconference, the specialists discussed the practical issues of opening air communication between Urgench and Aktau.
During the event, the director of Aktau airport Selchuk Kileji and his deputy Meruert Joldybaeva made presentation reports on the topic "Open the Silk Road from Aktau" dedicated to the tourism potential of Uzbekistan and the airport’s intentions to develop cooperation with Uzbekistan.
The videoconference discussed issues related to the development of tourism. It was pointed out that in order to attract tourists from third countries, tourist companies in the regions need to develop joint tourist routes, packages, programs, including the historical cities of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
