Online campaign “Clean plate” starts in China
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - In the Chinese segment of the Internet, a new social nationwide action "Clean Plate" is gaining momentum, directed against waste and excess in food.
As part of the campaign, users of China’s popular social media platform Weibo are encouraged to share photos or videos of plates full of food, followed by plates full of food.
“Don’t waste a grain of food,” says a post on the Weibo account of the People’s Daily, which, together with Weibo, launched a campaign that has become a new trend in August, which is a logical addition to the previously launched social program of propaganda and widespread waste sorting in China. ...
The food that Chinese consumers waste every year is enough to feed millions of people, Weibo notes in a post explaining the social action.
As of Saturday afternoon, Clean the Plate is on Weibo’s Top Trending Topics list with over 75 million views.
