Syrdarya establishes cooperation with Incheon in healthcare and medical tourism

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Korea – Uzbekistan Business Center in the city of Incheon, the Embassy of Uzbekistan together with the Korea – Uzbekistan Business Association under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy of the Republic of Korea held a ceremony of signing a Memorandum of Understanding between the khokimiyat of Syrdarya region and Health and Welfare Bureau of Incheon Administration on exchange and cooperation in healthcare and medicine, via videoconference.
Leadership of Health and Welfare Bureau of Incheon Administration noted that the city administration is interested in expanding interregional cooperation with Uzbekistan, Dunyo reported.
As part of the Memorandum, the Korea – Uzbekistan Business Association plans to send volunteers to Syrdarya region to deliver humanitarian aid, carry out operations and medical examination of the population affected by the man-made disaster and coronavirus infection.
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed online. An agreement was reached on formation of proposals for the practical implementation of this document as soon as possible.
Vice President of the Inchon Tourism Organization Lee Goong Woo said in his speech that he was ready to make every effort to further strengthen bilateral cooperation, in particular in the tourism sector. “We are ready to share our experience in promoting medical tourism. In this context, we are ready to invite specialists from Syrdarya region to post qualifications in the leading international medical institutions of the city. We are also looking forward to easing quarantine requirements for an early visit to the city of Gulistan and the region as a whole,” he said.
“Many South Korean companies, having learned that a dam collapsed in Syrdarya region during this difficult period of the coronavirus pandemic, extended a helping hand in the form of medical supplies and financial support,” said Kim Chang Keon, First Deputy Chairman of the Korean-Uzbek Business Association. - The establishment of interregional cooperation between Syrdarya region and the city of Incheon will allow exchanging experience in the development of health care and medicine, as well as the promotion of medical tourism.
Deputy khokim of the Syrdarya region O. Nasirov stressed that the region has great potential in the field of healthcare, medical and other types of tourism. Like the city of Inchon, Syrdarya region is adjacent to the capital region and provides ample opportunities to achieve the intended goals within the framework of the signed document. “We welcome the establishment of a long-term partnership by sending medical specialists from Syrdarya to Incheon to improve their skills, who, upon their return, will be able to contribute to the socio-economic development of the region,” he stressed.
