Portuguese companies are interested in doing business in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Portugal Sardor Rustambayev met with the heads of the Portuguese companies Curtumes Ibéria SA (leather dressing), BIAL (pharmaceuticals), Mota-Engil (construction) Pedro Bagullo, SASIA "(textiles), Dunyo news agency reported.
The head of "Curtumes Ibéria S.A" Joachim Rosa expressed interest in fruitful cooperation with Uzbek partners. He noted that he is already cooperating with Uzbekistan, in particular, the Nafis Charm company from Namangan region, which supplies semi-finished products for the leather industry to Portugal.
“The Uzbek partners are professionals in their field,” said the head of Curtumes Ibéria S.A. “Therefore, we refused to cooperate with other companies and remained with two exclusive partners from Uzbekistan and Turkey.
As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached on increasing the volume of supplies of Uzbek products and organizing short-term internships at Curtumes Ibéria S.A to improve their qualifications. Domestic specialists after the epidemiological situation normalizes
Opportunities for cooperation in the pharmaceutical field were discussed with the director of BIAL, Leonor Gameiro. The parties agreed to establish interaction in the indicated direction, as well as exchange information on the registration process of medicines, the procedure for issuing a license and observance of copyrights.
Mota-Engil board member Pedro Bagullo confirmed the readiness of the Portuguese side to implement large infrastructure projects in Uzbekistan. He expressed confidence that in case of establishing cooperation, "Mota-Engil" will become a reliable and long-term partner.
The company is actively present in Latin America and Africa, gradually entering the Asian markets. Pedro Bagullo emphasized that Mota-Engil has many years of experience and actively uses technical know-how in the development of various fields.
The head of the Sasia company, Miguel Silva, noted that there is a great potential for cooperation with Uzbekistan in the field of textile waste processing, since Sasia began its activities with cotton cleaning. Over the years, following the evolution of the market, it has invested in infrastructure and new technologies that enable it to produce high quality products. Sasia’s partners are such Uzbek companies as Compact Textiles Yarn LLC, Oq Saroy Textile LLC, Parvoz Xumo Ravnaq Trans LLC.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to increase the volume of supplies from Uzbekistan of textile waste with the expansion of the list of suppliers.
