Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In order to establish partnerships with business circles of Portugal and attract Portuguese investments in the economy of the republic, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to this country Sardor Rustambayev held negotiations with the Director General of the Agency for Investment and Foreign Trade "AICEP Portugal Global" Luis Castro Henriquez and vice-president of the Portuguese Industrial Association (AIP) Georges Pais, Dunyo news agency reported.
AICEP Portugal Global is active in Europe, Africa and Latin America, and also has offices in Russia, India and Turkey.
It was noted that due to the existing potential of the parties, Portugal can become a long-term partner of Uzbekistan in trade, economic and investment spheres, despite the fact that, due to historical reasons and priorities, the Central Asian region is little known for the Portuguese business community.
One of the activities of AICEP Portugal Global is the preparation of marketing country information. In this regard, representatives of the Agency expressed their readiness to send several missions of an economic and technical nature to the country to hold meetings in ministries and departments and prepare relevant information based on their results. Such information will serve as a kind of "road map" for representatives of the Portuguese business community.
In turn, the vice-president of AIP noted that his organization is ready to support the Uzbek side in every possible way - “to be a kind of bridge” in the establishment and development of cooperation between companies of the two countries. The Association has all the conditions and opportunities given its close ties with representatives of the Portuguese business community. They also expressed their readiness to assist in the establishment of a joint venture, if the Uzbek partners are interested. Textile, pharmaceutical, leather and other areas were identified as promising areas of cooperation.
As a result of the negotiations, an agreement was reached to organize a business forum in Lisbon with the participation of business circles of the two countries and to work out a Protocol on cooperation with AIP.
