Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 30 July 2020, Ambassador of Uzbekistan in Kuala Lumpur Ravshan Usmanov met with Director General of the Malaysian Corporation for the Development of Foreign Trade (MATRADE) Van Latif to discuss issues of further development of bilateral trade and economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Malaysia.
During the talks, Van Latif said that Uzbekistan is considered as a key partner of Malaysia among the Central Asian countries in the field of trade, economic and investment cooperation. This is confirmed by the opening of the MATRADE office in Tashkent at the Embassy of Malaysia in Uzbekistan in October 2019, as well as the visits of delegations of large Malaysian enterprises led by the leadership of the Corporation to Uzbekistan for holding business forums and B2B meetings.
He also praised the measures taken by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev during the coronavirus pandemic to support the population and business entities operating in the production of export-oriented products, as well as to preserve jobs.
As a result of the negotiations, agreements were reached on the organization of videoconferencing between the management of MATRADE and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan to determine specific areas of mutually beneficial cooperation aimed at further developing bilateral trade relations, as well as conducting online business matching between private exporting companies of the two countries in order to create a unique electronic platform for discussing the promotion of goods and services.
