Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Large-scale reforms are ongoing in various sectors of the fuel and energy sector of Uzbekistan, including in the field of hydropower.
In this regard, the joint-stock company Uzbekhydroenergo, which is in charge of managing this area, is implementing a number of investment projects for the construction of new and modernization of existing hydroelectric power plants (HPPs).
The tasks of Uzbekhydroenergo include work on the production and sale of electricity, attracting investments in promising and potential projects, their planned development, commissioning new hydraulic facilities and modernizing existing ones, deepening localization in production. Currently, these tasks are being actively implemented.
The joint-stock company makes its worthy contribution to the effective use of the republic’s hydropower potential, the formation of a unified system for managing water and energy resources, a consistent increase in the share of renewable hydropower resources in the structure of electricity production, the creation of new environmentally friendly generating capacities.
Despite the increased quarantine due to the coronavirus pandemic, systematic work is underway in the country to commission new facilities. In cooperation with leading Chinese hydropower enterprises and with the assistance of the Government of Uzbekistan, a group of specialists from the PRC has now arrived in the country to facilitate the planned completion of the Kadyriy HPP-3 modernization project.
In this regard, Uzbekhydroenergo expresses its gratitude to the Government, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade of the country.
On 29 July 2020, a solemn event was held to commission the Kadyriy HPP-3 after the successful completion of a large-scale modernization. This hydroelectric power plant is a part of the unitary enterprise "Cascade of Kadyriy HPP" of the Chirchik-Bozsuisky water-energy tract.
This event was attended by members of the management of Uzbekhydroenergo, representatives of the UE "Cascade of Kadyriy HPP", foreign partners.
It should be emphasized that this hydroelectric power station was built in 1933, its total capacity was 13.2 MW. Over the course of 85 years of operation, 4 hydroelectric units lost their efficiency; in a number of areas, major repairs of equipment were required.
In 2017, the President of Uzbekistan adopted a resolution on the modernization of the Kadyriy HPP-3, in December 2017, in accordance with the approved plans and projects, construction began. For 3 years, in stages, according to the investment project, work was underway to modernize HPP-3. In the process of modernization, construction and installation works, assembly and installation of technical equipment, spare parts, landscaping and landscaping were organized.
The main hydraulic equipment was produced by the leading company of the PRC "Dongfang Electric International Corporation", the assembly and installation of technical equipment, the supply of spare parts was carried out by foreign and local highly qualified specialists.
The design was organized by the specialists of the substructure Hydroproject. The necessary technical equipment was also produced and delivered by one of the sub-structural enterprises - JSC Suvsanoatmash.
Also, "Uzbekhydroenergostroy took part in the construction of individual hydraulic structures of the facility.
After the modernization of HPP-3, its productive capacity reached 15.34 MW, and the average annual power output - 124.4 million kWh.
The modernization of the Kadyriy HPP-3 was carried out around the clock, systematically and efficiently. Despite the coronavirus pandemic, employees and workers under quarantine conditions have established well-coordinated systematic work and completed work on time.
Progress in the hydropower industry of Uzbekistan will serve not only to increase the capacity of electricity production, but also affect the indicators of ensuring the well-being of the people.
