Prospects for cooperation with Italian companies in the field of viticulture and winemaking were discussed

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In order to attract foreign investments and advanced technologies to the wine industry of the republic, with the assistance of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Italy, a video conference was held with the participation of the President of the Italian Winemakers’ Il Santuccio Association Leonardo Comucci, representatives of the Italian companies’ Frescobaldi, Tecnovite e Casadei Group, Oenological Consultant, Dunyo news agency reported.
From the Uzbek side, the director of the Agency for the Development of Viticulture and Winemaking of Uzbekistan Rakhimjon Babayev, representatives of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade, and the Agency for Attracting Foreign Investments took part in the negotiations.
The Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Italy Otabek Akbarov informed the Italian side of the great attention paid by the Government of the country to the development of viticulture and winemaking, as well as the support provided to foreign investors and the provided benefits for entrepreneurs operating in this area.
Rakhimjon Babayev presented detailed information on the country’s potential in the field of winemaking. As examples of successful interaction, the cooperation of local enterprises "Bagizagan" and "Shokhrud" with the Italian company "Della Toffola" was noted, within the framework of which high-tech equipment for bottling and bottling of wine, olive and other types of oils was supplied to Uzbekistan.
As promising areas of cooperation, the Uzbek side proposed the organization of a specialized cluster covering the entire production cycle - from the creation of vineyards to the production of various types and varieties of wines; creation of modern laboratories and enterprises for the production of grape seedlings using the high-tech "in-vitro" method, which allows growing seedlings free from diseases and viruses; creation of new grape varieties.
Frescobaldi representative Giuseppe Pariani noted that he was impressed by the high rates of economic development in Uzbekistan. He announced the interest of his company in cooperation with Uzbek partners covering the entire cycle of activities - from planting seedlings to growing grapes and producing finished products.
Oenological Consultant President Alfonso Baldetti said that his company has many years of international cooperation experience with countries such as the USA, Georgia, Albania, Montenegro in the implementation of pilot projects, ranging from the supply of grape seedlings to the production of finished products under the Baldetti brand.
Alfonso Baldetti expressed interest in implementing similar projects in Uzbekistan. Taking into account the tourist potential of the republic, he also announced his readiness to organize and develop wine tourism.
The meeting participants agreed to develop several teaser projects for their implementation in Uzbekistan, as well as to organize a visit to Italy for a delegation of the Association of Viticulture and Winemaking of Uzbekistan in October. The importance of maintaining contacts and dialogue was also noted, including by organizing videoconferences.
