UNCTAD is ready to develop cooperation with Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A meeting held on 28 May in Tashkent under the leadership of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and discussing priorities in ensuring a competitive environment in the economy and protecting consumer rights has attracted the attention of international organizations in Geneva, including the Conference United Nations Trade and Development (UNCTAD), Dunyo reports.
According to the Permanent Mission of Uzbekistan to the UN Office and other international organizations in Geneva, Pierre Horn, the chief legal adviser at the UNCTAD Competition and Consumer Protection Department, praised the decision of the President of our country on the development of antitrust policy.
In particular, it was noted that UNCTAD is ready to intensify bilateral cooperation with Uzbekistan.
The organization has rich experience in assisting countries to modernize their national competition and consumer protection laws, said Pierre Horna.
Regarding the development of cooperation with Uzbekistan in 2020-2021, it was stated that UNCTAD is ready to cooperate in such areas as assisting the Uzbek side in enhancing the institutional capacity of the Antimonopoly Committee and the Agency for the Protection of Consumer Rights of Uzbekistan, assessing the effectiveness of state competition policy and consumer protection instruments, organization of trainings for judges of economic and administrative courts on the application of competition law.
