On the initiative of Uzbekistan and under the auspices of the UNWTO, an online tourism conference "The Path to Recovery" to take place
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - In order to mitigate the negative effects of the coronavirus pandemic on the tourism industry, establish international cooperation and discuss joint actions to accelerate recovery and sustainable development of the industry on 1 June 2020. On the initiative of the Republic of Uzbekistan and under the auspices of the World Tourism Organization of the United Nations (UNWTO), an online tourism conference “The Path to Recovery” will be held.
This was previously agreed upon during telephone conversations between the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Aziz Abdukhakimov and the UNWTO Secretary General Zurab Pololikashvili.
The event is expected to be attended by the heads of tourism departments of Central Asian countries, as well as Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Russia, Belarus and Moldova. Participants of the upcoming conference will exchange views and experiences on effective mitigation of the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic on the tourism and hospitality industry.
In addition, they will discuss ways to combine the efforts of the governments of the above countries to stimulate the rapid recovery and development of the tourism industry, ensure favorable and safe conditions for tourists in the post-pandemic period, as well as organize systematic work to rejuvenate and increase the flow of tourists.
