Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In the 2019-2020 academic year, 6.12 million students studied in 9,942 comprehensive schools in Uzbekistan. On May 25, on the occasion of the end of the school year in Uzbekistan, the “last call” took place in an online format.

More than 200 teachers, together with employees of the National Television and Radio Company of Uzbekistan, prepared over 3.9 thousand video lessons. International organizations, such as UNESCO, UNICEF and the World Bank, praised Uzbekistan’s decision to transfer children to distance learning using television. The Online-maktab project will continue. During the summer holidays, English language lessons and video content on modern professions and skills will be shown on TV channels.
It is noted that according to the results of the 2019-2020 school year, about 490 thousand students graduated from the 9th grade and more than 451.3 thousand students - the 11th. Until 15 June 2020, graduates will be provided with electronic forms (scanner) of certificates.
In February 2019, the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan approved the Regulation “On the awarding of gold and silver medals to talented graduates of secondary educational institutions and academic lyceums”.
The regulation determines the procedure for awarding talented graduates of secondary educational institutions, including specialized schools, specialized boarding schools for art and culture, specialized boarding schools for sports, as well as academic lyceums.
According to orders received from the regions of the country, 4,682 students are applying for a gold medal, and 2,219 are claiming a silver medal.
The prepared certificates, gold and silver medals will be stored in secondary educational institutions until the epidemiological situation in the country improves.
After lifting the quarantine restrictions, the student can receive the original certificates, gold and silver medals from the school management, the ministry said.
