Foreign trade operations in Uzbekistan are carried out continuously

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In order to prevent the widespread spread of the coronavirus raging all over the world and fight it in Uzbekistan, a number of restrictions have been introduced on citizens crossing the state borders of the republic. The government has determined that these restrictions do not apply to cargo transportation, Dunyo reports with reference to information from the State Customs Committee.
For example, under the jurisdiction of the Customs Directorate of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, three customs posts of foreign economic activity these days operate uninterruptedly. These posts provided continuous assistance to the subjects of foreign economic activity in the implementation of their export-import operations and clearance of goods.
In particular, from 16 March, when the restriction on the movement of citizens across the state’s borders began, and until 25 March, export operations worth 9 million 513 thousand US dollars were carried out through the Customs Administration of the Republic of Karakalpakstan with the export of goods worth 14369 tons. The main exporters of the region are joint ventures Uz-KoR Gas Chemical, LLC Karakalpak aral travel, Uzkimyoimpeks, Amudaryotex and Kanteks invest. Export deliveries were mainly carried out to Russia, Turkey, China, Kazakhstan, Latvia and Ukraine. The list of main exported goods includes polyethylene, yarn, licorice root and licorice root extract.
Even under the conditions of quarantine declared in the country, entrepreneurs in their activities effectively use the conditions created for them without any barriers and restrictions.
If we cite the example of Uz-KoR Gas Chemical LLC, then this company exported 10,405 tons of products worth US$6 million 988 thousand over 10 days of quarantine.
The activity on import of goods did not decrease either. So, from 16 to 25 March, through the Customs Administration of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, 37 business entities carried out operations on the import of 5,334 tons of products worth US$2 million 656 thousand from 11 countries, including Russia, China, Latvia, Kazakhstan and others. Among the imported goods are greenhouse constructions, petroleum products, wood, technological equipment and grain products.
From 16 to 25 March 2020, the Customs Administration of the Republic of Karakalpakstan also registered the import of products weighing 94 tons in the amount of 97 thousand 380 US dollars. The main names of imported goods are fish, margarine, milk and dairy products, and other food products. They are mainly imported from countries such as Russia, Latvia, Belgium and Kazakhstan.
