Issues of strengthening cooperation in the energy sector were discussed

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 24 February 2020, in Brussels, a meeting was held between the ambassadors of Central Asian countries in Belgium and representatives of the Directorate General for Energy of the European Commission with the participation of the Secretary General of the Energy Charter Secretariat Urban Rusnak.
During the event, issues were discussed of the effective use of the energy potential of the Central Asian states, the strengthening of their interaction with the European Union in this area.
The Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the Benelux countries Dilyor Khakimov informed those present about the main provisions of the Address of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev Oliy Majlis on 24 January, the cardinal transformations taking place in the country, creating favorable conditions for doing business and attracting foreign investment.
The participants were greatly interested in information about the energy potential of Uzbekistan, the reforms carried out in this sector in order to make full use of the available opportunities, as well as the Energy Week Uzbekistan event.
The European side announced the launch in the near future of a new EU regional project in the field of sustainable energy for Central Asian countries with a budget of 8 million euros.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed on a number of joint activities in Brussels, including a long-term contact plan.
