Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - On 21 February 2020, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Energy with representatives of the advisory mission of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), which discussed the development of electric transport.

The purpose of the ADB mission is to advise on the development of policies and strategies for the development of electric transport in Uzbekistan, to analyze the environmental impact of electric vehicles and assess the economic consequences, taking into account world practice in such areas as taxation, tariffing, subsidizing.

During the meeting, the main directions of technical assistance and issuing recommendations on the phased introduction of electric vehicles in the field of public and personal vehicles, the implementation of relevant standards, the development of infrastructure and the determination of the types of gas stations taking into account the significant potential of solar resources in Uzbekistan, the need for resource conservation, and the production of batteries are outlined.

Issues of the development of electric transport are considered in the framework of the implementation of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan from 22 August 2019 “On accelerated measures to improve energy efficiency in economic and social sectors, the introduction of energy-saving technologies and the development of renewable energy sources.”
