Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Today, a press conference was held at the national press center of Uzbekistan on the implementation of Uzbekistan’s foreign policy, topical issues of the republic’s international cooperation with foreign countries and international organizations, Dunyo reported.
The main speaker was the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Ilkhomjon Nematov.
He presented to the assembled correspondents of local and foreign media, representatives of ministries and departments of the republic, information on the achievements and priorities of the country in promoting its interests in the international arena, as well as on the tasks facing the foreign ministry arising from the Message from President Shavkat Mirziyoyev Oliy Majlis.
During the press conference, the assessments of authoritative foreign experts on the transformations and changes taking place in our country were presented.
As Nematov noted, Uzbekistan has completely emerged from political and economic isolation, got rid of the country's label that impedes integration in Central Asia.
Reporting to journalists about the results of international cooperation of Uzbekistan last year, Ilkhomjon Nematov noted that the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan made 11 visits to foreign countries, 7 visits of heads of foreign states to Uzbekistan took place. Following their results, 122 documents were signed regarding the development of cooperation in various fields.
In addition, 15 major investment forums and 4 major international conferences took place in our country.
The diplomatic missions of Uzbekistan abroad have worked out the implementation of 256 investment projects worth US$5 billion. It was noted that due to economic diplomacy conducted by the embassies of Uzbekistan abroad, the volume of export of domestic products to foreign countries increased by 19.2%, exceeding US$10.2 billion.
In addition, the flow of tourists arriving in our country has increased. In this area, in 2019, growth amounted to 27.1% and the number of tourists reached 7 million.
