Uzbekistan experts study the experience of the American Metropolitan Museum
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of the Research Center for the Restoration of Cultural Heritage Objects and Art Objects and the Fund for the Development of Culture and Art under the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan is in the United States, the Dunyo reports.
The purpose of the visit is to study foreign experience in creating and developing restoration institutions, using modern conservation methods and equipment, discussing prospects for establishing cooperation in the field of restoration activities and training.
According to the Embassy of our country in Washington, a series of meetings has been organized for representatives of Uzbekistan with the leadership of the Metropolitan Museum, the heads of the conservation and thematic departments of this museum, as well as at the Conservation Center at New York University of Art.
During the negotiations, the parties discussed the prospects for cooperation between the parties on a wide range of issues, including the organization of an exhibition of art objects of Uzbekistan in the Metropolitan, the study of best American experience in the field of conservation, advanced training of domestic experts, as well as assistance in establishing the work of the Research Center for the Restoration of Cultural Objects heritage and art objects under the Ministry of Culture of Uzbekistan.
Quincy Houghton, deputy director of the Metropolitan Museum of Art for Exhibitions, praised the particular attention given by the leadership of our country to the preservation of historical and cultural heritage, and assured her of her readiness to assist in organizing an exhibition of art objects about Uzbekistan in the near future.
A detailed tour was organized for the Uzbek delegation in all the conservation units of the Metro.
Domestic experts studied in detail all aspects of the conservation work of the largest and most popular museum in the United States.
Following the results of meetings with the heads of art restoration services, an agreement was reached on establishing a permanent relationship between domestic experts and Metropolitan experts, sending museum scientists to Uzbekistan, organizing internships for our specialists in the relevant departments of the American side on a free basis, and cooperation on training promising personnel in the field restoration.
