Adkham Ikramov meets with the Head of the Representative Office of the German Economy in Central Asia

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – Chairperson of the Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan Adkham Ikramov met with the Head of the Representative Office of the German Economy in Central Asia.

During the meeting, the head of the CCI informed about the activities of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as well as the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan to improve the investment climate, liberalize the economy, and protect the legitimate rights and interests of entrepreneurs and investors.

The head of the German Economy in Central Asia, H. Voskanyan, noted that the purpose of his visit was to discuss issues of further bilateral trade, economic and investment cooperation, organization of joint events, including a trip of representatives of business circles of Germany and the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The parties also emphasized the development trends of bilateral cooperation in the trade, economic and investment sphere. It should be noted that at the end of 2019 bilateral trade amounted to US$980 million, exceeding last year’s figures by 26%.

In terms of turnover growth, this is one of the highest indicators in the statistics of trade in Germany with the countries of Eastern Europe and the CIS.

During the negotiations, the parties discussed the results of the Uzbek-German business forum, which was held on 14 January 2019 in Berlin on the eve of the State visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Germany.

This kind of cooperation opens up new opportunities for the development of bilateral relations between companies and entrepreneurs of countries. Representatives of the German Economy in Central Asia noted that the significant economic potential of Uzbekistan contributes to the further development of close contact with colleagues. In this regard, the issue of opening the Representation of the German Economy in Tashkent was also discussed.
