CCI together with KOICA opens business incubator for startups in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 28 January 2020, an agreement was signed between the Chamber of Commerce and the International Cooperation Agency of the Republic of Korea (KOICA) on the launch of the project “Promoting the Development of a Business Incubation System in Uzbekistan” with a budget of US$5.5 million.
The project aims to develop a system of providing comprehensive assistance to start-up entrepreneurs in the implementation of their business ideas and projects, taking into account the best Korean experience.
Within the framework of this project, it is planned to attract Korean experts, together with whom over the next 4 years work will be organized in the following areas:
- the creation in Tashkent of an exemplary business incubator in which novice entrepreneurs will be able to receive practical assistance in the implementation of their business ideas from qualified specialists;
- preparation of proposals to improve the regulatory framework in the field of support for start-up entrepreneurs, stimulate the development of their activities, as well as the development of the ecosystem of innovative business in Uzbekistan as a whole;
- assisting in the institutional development of organizations (projects) whose activities are aimed at stimulating the development of youth entrepreneurship;
- advanced training of staff of departments and organizations involved in the development of youth and innovative business by organizing educational internships for them in the Republic of Korea;
- creation of an integrated information system containing all the necessary information for start-up entrepreneurs on the creation and conduct of a business.
Today, the Republic of Korea occupies a leading position in many international ratings, assessing the degree of innovative development of the economies of the world.
In this regard, during the state visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sh.M. Mirziyoyev to the Republic of Korea (on 22-25 November 2017), agreements were reached on the implementation, with the assistance of the Korean agency KOICA, in Uzbekistan of a project aimed at developing a business incubation system with taking into account the best Korean experience.
