Uzbekistan plans to export uranium to Japan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – Uzbekistan plans to export uranium to Japan. This was stated in the resolution of the President of Uzbekistan "On measures to further expand and strengthen bilateral cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and Japan."
According to the document, the Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Combine (NGMK) plans to supply uranium to Japan in the amount of more than US$1.14 billion in 2023-2030.
As noted by the head of the Department of Foreign Economic Relations and Sales of the Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Combine Khasan Safarov, NGMK is the only producer of one of the export-oriented products in the republic - natural uranium. Natural uranium accounts for the bulk of the plant’s exports (over 90%). The geography of uranium exports includes Japan, the USA, India, China and South Korea. Today, Japanese companies such as Itochu and Marubeni are the main buyers of uranium mined by the plant.
In particular, NGMK will supply uranium to Itochu in the amount of US$510.1 million and Marubeni - US$636.4 million.
