Another round of Uzbek-Russian inter-MFA political consultations takes place in Moscow

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – Moscow hosted another round of Uzbek-Russian inter-MFA political consultations.
A delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan was led by First Deputy Foreign Minister Ilkhom Nematov. The Russian Federation was represented by a delegation led by Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko.
The parties thoroughly discussed the state and prospects of bilateral cooperation in the political, trade, economic, investment, scientific, educational, cultural and humanitarian and other fields.
The course of the implementation of the agreements reached within the framework of state visits of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Russia in April 2017 and President Vladimir Putin to Uzbekistan in October 2018 was considered. The parties control the implementation of bilateral documents in the trade, economic and investment field for 2019-2024 for a total of US$25 billion.
As emphasized, the priority in strengthening strategic partnership is the expansion of mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation. Over the past two years, its volume has grown 1.5 times. In January-November of this year, trade amounted to US$5.8 billion, which is 14.1% higher than the same period last year. Since the beginning of the year, 130 mutual visits of various delegations of an economic nature have been organized.
In this context, great importance is attached to the development of ties between the regions of the two countries. The regions of Uzbekistan have established productive relations with 70 subjects of Russia.
During the consultations, the parties exchanged views on the organizational aspects of the upcoming bilateral events in Tashkent in 2020, including meetings of the Joint Commission at the level of Heads of Government and the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation.
Other relevant issues of the Uzbek-Russian agenda were discussed at the meeting.
