MoPE and UFA jointly to hold football tournaments among students

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - The Ministry of Public Education of Uzbekistan (MoPE) and Uzbekistan Football Association (UFA) will jointly hold school tournaments for the development of football in the country.
The Minister of Public Education of Uzbekistan Sherzod Shermatov received the First Vice-President of AFU Ravshan Irmatov on 6 December. The parties during the meeting discussed issues of establishing cooperation for the development of football among youth.
It should be noted that on 4 December 2019, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a devee “On measures to raise football to a completely new stage in the development of Uzbekistan”.
According to the President’s decree, one of the main directions in the development of professional football in Uzbekistan will be increasing the interest of children and youth in playing football, popularizing amateur football, and organizing football competitions in secondary schools and other educational institutions, makhallas and organizations on a regular basis for this purpose.
During the negotiations, Sherzod Shermatov and Ravshan Irmatov discussed issues of cooperation between the two organizations for the development and popularization of football among children.
In particular, the parties intend to regularly hold football tournaments among students in schools. Ravshan Irmatov noted that these tournaments will be visited by coaches in order to identify new talents. Gifted children will be sent to specialized football schools.
The Minister of Public Education of Uzbekistan Sherzod Shermatov emphasized that the Ministry is ready to cooperate with the UFA in this direction. He noted that it is necessary to ensure a fair selection of talented youth, and this will serve the development of football in the country.
Starting next week, UFA, in cooperation with the Ministry of Public Education, will launch football festivals in the regions of Uzbekistan.
