A meeting of the Parliamentary Friendship League Uzbekistan-Japan takes place in Tokyo

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - On 2 December, Tokyo hosted a meeting of the Uzbekistan-Japan Parliamentary Friendship League, a high-level event that is an institutional platform for displaying key vectors of strategic cooperation between the two countries.
The event was attended by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Finance of Japan T. Aso and Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan S. Umurzakov.
During the event, representatives of the Japanese Parliament were acquainted with the progress of large-scale reforms carried out in Uzbekistan, the main priorities of its further development, factors of growing investment attractiveness and consistent integration into the global economic system.
Opening the meeting, the chairman of the league, T. Aso, welcomed the unprecedented intensification of a multifaceted intercountry dialogue, which, in his opinion, will make full use of the existing potential to expand bilateral relations.
Speaking at the event, S. Umurzakov, on behalf of the Government of Uzbekistan, expressed assurances of Uzbekistan’s firm intentions to build a sustainable and long-term partnership with Japan and to expeditiously form a new look for bilateral relations in the investment, trade and economic spheres.
It was emphasized that currently significant work has been done in this direction: interactive mechanisms have been established for interaction with Japanese partners both in the framework of jointly implemented initiatives and in the search for new directions for mutually beneficial cooperation.
Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Japan G. Fazylov, Special Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan for Central Asia H. Uyama also spoke at the meeting, exchanging visions of further dynamization of bilateral relations in the spirit of strengthening investment and trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.
The Uzbekistan-Japan Parliamentary Friendship League was formed in 2002 and consists of deputies of the House of Councilors and the House of Representatives of the Parliament of Japan.
The chairman of the League of Friendship with Uzbekistan is Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of Japan Taro ASO. The number of members of the Friendship League, which mainly (97%) consists of deputies of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party, is 44 people.
