Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - On 21-24 November 2019, a delegation of the Lombardy region, headed by President (Governor) Attilio Fontana, will visit Uzbekistan.
The delegation includes representatives of the Government of Lombardy, the president and members of the Italy-Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce, about 15 representatives of business circles of northern Italy, as well as heads of universities in Milan, Bergamo and Insumbria.
The program of the visit includes meetings with a number of official representatives of our country, including with the leaders of the Cabinet of Ministers, the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade, the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education, as well as the holding of the Uzbek-Italian business forum in Tashkent.
Along with this, visits to the Mirzo Ulugbek National University of Uzbekistan, the Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent, the Tashkent State Technical University, as well as the Tashkent Fashion Week are envisaged.
A trip to Samarkand is planned to meet with the region’s leadership, participate in the I International Investment Forum, visit Samarkand State University, as well as get acquainted with the objects of historical and cultural heritage of Uzbekistan.
Lombardy is one of the important centers of the world economy, as well as one of the three most industrialized regions in Europe with the highest GDP per capita (38 thousand euros) in the country.
The economy is multidirectional from traditional sectors (agriculture and livestock) to heavy and light industry.
The capital of Lombardy, the largest city in northern Italy, Milan is the business and financial capital of the country, and is one of the six economic centers in Europe.
Here are located the Italian Stock Exchange (one of the leading European financial centers), as well as the Milan Fair (Fiera Milano) - the largest exhibition venue in Europe. Milan, along with the cities of Paris, London and New York, is one of the world capitals of fashion and design.
Relations between Uzbekistan and Lombardy are multifaceted and cover political, economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres.
Politically, stable contacts have been established and are developing with the government of the Lombardy region, which has consistently shown interest in interacting with Uzbekistan in all areas and is ready to strengthen institutional cooperation by establishing direct ties with one of the leading industrial regions of our country.
In this regard, an important role belongs to the Italy-Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce in Milan, headed by President Luigi Iperti, which contributes to the development of economic cooperation and other areas of cooperation with Lombardy.
In the humanitarian sphere, it is worth highlighting ties with the Milan Polytechnic University, recognized as the best university in Italy in engineering specialties. As part of the agreement between the Higher School of Business at this university and the Republican Higher School of Business and Management at NAPU, from November 21, 34 young managers from Uzbekistan undergo short-term training in Milan, and from September 2020 they will attend 1.5-year master's classes.
Along with this, Lombardy universities of Milan, Bergamo and Insumbria, as well as the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory of Milan, are showing interest in cooperation with Uzbekistan. It is noteworthy that the famous Uzbek bass baritone, Honored Artist of the Republic Jenisbek Piyazov participates in the competitive selection of the famous Milan La Scala Theater.
