Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 20 November 2019, the 15th round of Uzbek-German political consultations was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The Uzbek delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Dilshod Akhatov, and the delegation of the Federal Republic of Germany, Michael Siebert, Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia.
The parties exchanged views on the current state and priority areas for the development of bilateral cooperation, as well as relevant issues on the international agenda.
The implementation of the agreements reached within the framework of the official visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Germany in January of this year and President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in May in Uzbekistan was examined in detail. It was noted that the exchange of visits at the highest level was the beginning of a new stage in relations between the two countries and contributed to the intensification of cooperation in all areas.
The conversation confirmed mutual interest in the further development of multifaceted and mutually beneficial ties through the joint implementation of new initiatives and projects. First of all, it was about such areas of cooperation as trade and economic, tourism, interparliamentary and cultural and humanitarian.
The parties praised the positive dynamics demonstrated by the mutual trade turnover, which, according to the results of 2018, reached US$772 million, and US$744 million in January-September 2019.
The meeting also substantively discussed the prospects for expanding cultural and humanitarian relations and scientific and educational exchanges, including in the field of training, the organization of joint training seminars, the opening of branches and master's programs, as well as the publication of teaching materials.
The Ambassador of Germany to Uzbekistan, Gunter Overfeld, took part in the negotiations.
