Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Saudi Arabia Ulugbek Maksudov met with the chairman of the International Organization of Camel Production (ICO) Sheikh Fahd bin Falah al-Khisliyan to discuss issues of establishing bilateral cooperation, reports Dunyo news agency.
The parties discussed the results of the first international conference “Camel breeding in Central Asia: historical heritage and prospects”, which was held in August in Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan). They expressed satisfaction with the results of the meeting held within the framework of this forum with representatives of the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Veterinary Medicine and Livestock Development.
Sheikh Fahd bin Falah al-Khisliyan highly appreciated the measures taken in our country to further develop the livestock industry, including camel husbandry, stimulate the processing of livestock products, increase the number of farms, expand entrepreneurial activity in this area, and provide soft loans for the purchase of camels abroad.
In this regard, the chairman of the ICO agreed with the view that it is necessary to create large camel breeding complexes in Uzbekistan with the involvement of Saudi investments, as well as import of camels from Saudi Arabia into the republic. He expressed readiness to exchange experience with Uzbek colleagues in the field of breeding and breeding, strengthening the feed base, introducing scientific approaches and advanced modern technologies in this industry.
Sheikh Fahd bin Falah al-Khisliyan supported the organization of the visit of the delegation of Uzbekistan to Saudi Arabia to familiarize themselves with the achievements of the Kingdom in this area, as well as participation in the next meeting of the ICO General Assembly, scheduled for January 2020 in Riyadh.
“Our experience in breeding camels shows that this industry is profitable and provides the production of products with the lowest cost. This meat and milk, as well as raw materials - wool, leather and more. In this regard, the development of camel husbandry is important in providing the population with affordable and high-quality meat and other food products, as well as employment and increasing the income of citizens living in rural areas,” he stressed.
