Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 13 November 2019, a meeting was held in Paris between the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Dilshod Akhatov and the Secretary General of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs of France, François Delatre. The French capital also hosted the 11th round of the Uzbek-French political consultations.
At the political consultations, the delegation of the French Republic was headed by the director of the Department of Continental Europe of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Frederic Mondoloni.
During the talks, the parties noted that Uzbekistan and France see each other as important and long-term partners and emphasized their mutual readiness to build up multifaceted mutually beneficial cooperation.
The course of implementation of the agreements reached in October last year as part of the official visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to France and negotiations with President Emmanuel Macron, as well as promising areas for further development of cooperation in various fields are examined in detail.
The parties discussed the possibilities of deepening the political dialogue and inter-parliamentary relations, intensifying trade, economic and investment cooperation, cultural and humanitarian exchanges, and strengthening the legal framework.
The importance was emphasized of giving regular character to the work of the joint mechanisms of interaction, including in the economic sphere, and holding activities aimed at expanding ties between the business circles of Uzbekistan and France.
Mutual interest was expressed in enhancing cooperation in the field of high technology, aeronautics, tourism and inter-university cooperation.
The meeting also held an exchange of views on international and regional issues affecting the interests of the parties.
As a result, an agreement was reached on organizing the next round of political consultations in Tashkent in 2020.
