The first science and atom festival opens in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - The first Science and Atom Festival in Uzbekistan opened on 14 November in Tashkent at the Atomic Technology Information Center (ICAT).
The opening ceremony of the Festival was attended by: First Deputy Director General of the Agency for the Development of Atomic Energy under the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan (Uzatom Agency) Bahram Mansurov; Director General of Rosatom Central Asia Sergey Gromov; Executive Director of the branch of the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI in Tashkent Alisher Sanetullaev; representatives of the Uzatom Agency, the State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom and other guests of honor.
The venues for the festival were ICAT, National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek and Tashkent State Technical University named after Islam Karimov.
The event is designed to popularize science and innovation, introduce young people to modern technologies and answer questions from participants related to nuclear issues. The program of the Festival includes intellectual games for schoolchildren, for example, “Atomic Doble”, “Scientific Chronograph”, “Technostrategy”, lectures for students, and the popular science talk show “Let’s Understand Atoms”.
Lecturers and presenters are Uzbek and Russian scientists and specialists: Vice-President of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Ibragimov, Deputy Director of the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan Ilkhom Sadykov, Director for Research at the Physics and Power Engineering Institute (Russian Federation) Vitaliy Khryachkov, Associate Professor of the Department Nuclear power plants and renewable energy sources »Ural Federal University (Russian Federation) Oleg Tashlykov, teachers of the National Research Nuclear University "Moscow Engineering Physics Institute" (Russian Federation) Puzakov Alexei and Roman Fomin, Director and Manager of the Information Center of Atomic Energy, Chelyabinsk (Russian Federation) Larissa Matveeva and Dmitry freezing.
“The development of the economy today is primarily associated with the development of high-tech industries. And in these sectors highly qualified specialists should come, the training of which must begin from school. Events like our Festival not only acquaint schoolchildren and students with the achievements of modern science, but also help determine the profession, the choice of a life path,” Bahram Mansurov, First Deputy Director General of Uzatom Agency, said.
“The purpose of the festival is to talk about the opportunities that are opening up for young people today thanks to the development of technology, to awaken students and schoolchildren an interest in doing science. The festival will allow participants to learn how nuclear technologies contribute to improving the quality of human life, about their application in various fields - industry, agriculture, medicine - and their role in the development of the country. We are sure that the first Science and Atom Festival in Uzbekistan will be a real celebration for all its participants, and holding such events will become a good tradition for us,” Sergey Gromov, Director General of Rosatom Central Asia, noted.
The event will be held over two days, it is expected that more than 600 schoolchildren and students will take part in the Festival.
