Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A briefing was held at the Embassy of our country in Pakistan on the upcoming elections to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, regional, district and city Kengashes of people’s deputies, Dunyo news agency reported.
The event was attended by citizens of Uzbekistan, temporarily residing in this country.
The main purpose of the briefing was to inform the constitutional rights and obligations of citizens of our country, as well as to familiarize themselves with the preparations for the upcoming elections in Uzbekistan.
In his speech, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan F. Sidikov noted that future elections, which will be held on 22 December, will play an important role in further democratization of the country, as well as achieving the strategic goals of sustainable development and building a civil society in Uzbekistan. It was emphasized that the elections will be fundamentally different from the previous ones - they will be transparently taking into account international requirements, which are fully incorporated by the recently adopted Electoral Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, developed jointly with the OSCE Office for Democratic Freedoms and Human Rights (ODIHR) and the Venice Commission. They will be held under the slogan "New elections - a new Uzbekistan."
Participants in the event were also informed that a polling station with all the necessary conditions for voting by citizens of Uzbekistan living in Pakistan would be organized at the Embassy.
Within the framework of this event, an introductory presentation on the procedure for holding elections in the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan was also organized.
