Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - A business forum entitled “Prospects and Opportunities for Italian Companies in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan” was held in the Russian capital, Dunyo reports.
The event, organized by NPO Confindustria Russia and the law firm Pavia e Ansaldo with the assistance of the Italian Embassy in Russia, was attended by heads and representatives of diplomatic missions of Azerbaijan, Italy, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, heads of large Italian companies, investors and journalists.
Welcoming the participants of the meeting, Confindustria Russia President Ernesto Ferlengi noted the huge unrealized potential for the Italian business community in Central Asia and the Caucasus, whose states today show steady economic growth rates. Among the countries of the region, the speaker separately mentioned Uzbekistan and his recent visit to the republic.
“Large-scale transformations are underway in Uzbekistan, which have changed the republic beyond recognition and made it one of the most attractive partners for doing business,” he said.
As part of the event, diplomats of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Russia made a presentation of the country's trade, economic and investment potential. Its participants were familiarized with the reforms being carried out in our country to modernize and liberalize the national economy, the legislation in the field of trade, investment and export, the existing benefits and preferences for foreign investors. Detailed information is also provided on the current development and prospects for further growth of industries, transport and tourism potential of the republic.
Information and projects presented by Uzbek diplomats aroused great interest of the participants. During the bilateral negotiations, representatives of the STI Engineering announced an upcoming visit to Uzbekistan in the second half of November 2019 in order to study the possibility of entering the republic’s market and participating in the XV International specialized exhibition UzAgroExpo - 2019. In turn, the managers of Advice & Consulting also shared their plans to participate in the implementation of the project in Namangan region in the field of agriculture. Creon Energy has expressed interest in establishing cooperation with Uzbekistan in the field of electricity.
