Cooperation between Uzbekistan and the UK in the field of digital development expands

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - A seminar will be held in Tashkent from 29 to 31 October on the topic “Digital Transformation of the Government in Uzbekistan: UK Experience”.
The event is organized by the National Agency for Project Management under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan (hereinafter - NAPU) and the United Nations Development Program in Uzbekistan with the support of the British Embassy in Uzbekistan.
At the opening of the seminar, Deputy Director of NAPU V.Pak, British Ambassador Timothy Torlot and Head of the UNDP Cluster Promotion Facilitation, Policy and Communications Unit in Uzbekistan Mukhamedkhanova Kamila delivered welcoming speeches.
At the seminar, the experts of the Digital Development Service under the Cabinet of Ministers of Great Britain (GDS) presented the experience of digital transformation and development of the e-government system.
Within the framework of the event, a series of trainings is planned in the field of strategic planning of the digital development of the country, the design of user-oriented public services, the creation of interdepartmental digital platforms, taking into account best British and international practices.
In particular, the participants will discuss the draft National Strategy for the Development of the Digital Economy “Digital Uzbekistan - 2030”, developed by NAPU with the assistance of UNDP and the World Bank. Experts, together with specialists from ministries and departments of the republic, will consider a range of public services related to the birth of a child and registration of disability status. A training will also be held on the creation of digital platforms, in which participants will discuss the prospects for the development of identification platforms, notifications and payments in Uzbekistan.
Based on the results of the trainings, it is expected to increase the skills and potential of government employees on key aspects of the development and implementation of the state strategy of digital transformation and a customer-oriented approach in the provision of public services, providing the government with expert advice on digital transformation and the transition to the digital economy.
The previous visit of GDS representatives to Tashkent took place in March 2019 to participate in the international round table on the future of e-government and digital transformation in Uzbekistan.
This visit is the next step towards further deepening and expanding cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the UK in the development of the digital economy and e-government.
