Uzbekistan, Italy discuss the expansion of the legal framework

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 22-23 October 2019, in Rome, inter-MFA consultations were held to expand the legal framework of Uzbek-Italian relations and its inventory.
The delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Italian Republic was headed by the Director of the Department for Cooperation with Russia, Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia Fabrizio di Michel, as well as the Deputy Director of Legal Services Pascal Velotti.
The parties discussed the current state of the legal framework for bilateral cooperation in various fields and prospects for its expansion. They clarified the legal status of agreements and other acts signed between the two countries that do not have the status of an international treaty.
As part of the consultations, separate negotiations were also held with senior officials from the Ministry of Economic Development and the Italian Ministry of Finance to discuss a draft new intergovernmental agreement on mutual protection and promotion of investments.
The delegations also agreed to prepare for signing the draft Protocol to the Convention for the avoidance of double taxation and the Treaty on legal assistance in criminal matters.
