CEC drew attention to messages on social networks

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – The Central Election Commission drew attention to reports on social networks about cases of interference by local executive bodies and khokims in the activities of political parties to nominate candidates for parliamentary elections and local Kengashs, which will be held on 22 December.
The Central Election Commission states that in accordance with Article 37 of the Electoral Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, political parties have the right to nominate candidates for deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as candidates for deputies of local Kengashes. This right is reserved exclusively for political parties.
Illegal interference in the activities of political parties to nominate candidates for deputies is prohibited by law and entails liability. This was reported by the International Press Center of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan
In the event of such situations, the Central Election Commission asks to contact the law enforcement authorities with justified facts, as well as notify the CEC about this.
