Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A Decree of the President “On measures to radically improve the legal and institutional system for protecting consumer rights” was adopted.
In accordance with the Decree, the Consumer Protection Agency was established under the Antimonopoly Committee.
The Agency develops and implements a unified state policy in the field of consumer protection and regulation of the advertising market.
According to the Decree, the Agency was granted such rights as protecting the rights and interests of consumers, applying to the court on the application of legal measures to persons who violated them.
Also, the Agency may carry out test purchases of goods and services at retail outlets and services, organize their examination.
The Agency and the territorial departments of the Committee are exempted from paying the state duty on claims filed with the courts in accordance with the tasks assigned to them.
The agency is headed by a director appointed and dismissed by the Cabinet of Ministers on the proposal of the Chairman of the Committee.
