Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The head of the Chelyabinsk region, Alexei Teksler, met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Russia Botirjon Asadov. This was reported by the press service of the Governor of the Chelyabinsk region.
The parties discussed the prospects for socio-economic and humanitarian cooperation.
“Our region has long-standing, multifaceted ties with the Republic of Uzbekistan. I am sure that our common desire is to make them closer and mutually beneficial. For this, we closely cooperate in a number of areas, including humanitarian contacts, actively go to the regions of Uzbekistan, and meetings of representatives of the Chelyabinsk region with Uzbek colleagues have become almost regular. Over the past three years, 15 joint events have been held with the participation of authorities of the Chelyabinsk region, the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Uzbek regions. This gave the result: now the Chelyabinsk region takes first place in non-resource non-energy exports to Uzbekistan among all regions of Russia. In 2018, trade with Uzbek companies exceeded US$370 million, with an increase of 27 percent over the year. Now we have official data for the first half of this year. The growth rates have not just been preserved - they have grown; in total, the mutual turnover reached almost US$200 million. This, of course, makes us happy, these rates need to be maintained,” Alexey Teksler emphasized.
