Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 4 September 2019, a new 2019-2020 academic year will begin in Uzbekistan. About 9904 public schools will accept children. The number of schools compared to the previous academic year increased by 213 units.
On this day, all schools will host events dedicated to the Day of Knowledge and lessons of independence in honor of the 28th anniversary of independence under the motto "Everlasting prosperity, my dear Uzbekistan!".
During the lessons of independence, students will become familiar with the development of Uzbekistan for 28 years, the achievements and potential of the country, the reforms being carried out, etc.
Repair and construction work this year was carried out in 937 schools as part of investment and other government programs. For these purposes, funds were spent in the amount of 2.86 trillion. soums, which is almost two times more compared to 2018 (1.47 trillion soums).
This year, 71 network schools were created to introduce the experience of educational institutions with a relatively high quality of education in other schools.
About 383 college buildings across Uzbekistan will be transformed into secondary schools. On their basis, 154 new schools will be created. At the same time, 229 buildings will be used as additional facilities for schools. As a result, in the 2019-2020 academic year, 224,000 additional training places will be created at the expense of colleges.
As a result of the construction of 53 new schools and the reconstruction of 210 educational institutions, the load coefficient in 646 schools decreased to 1.5. This will improve the learning environment and the quality of education.
On 10 August 2019, an order of the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan No. 671 was adopted to equip secondary schools. Within the framework of this document, this year 533 schools will receive 68,292 sets of desks (1 desk and 2 chairs), 6,614 teacher desks, 7,995 teacher chairs, 4,838 blackboards, 115 sets of physics laboratories, 117 sets of chemistry laboratories, 118 sets of laboratories in biology, 80 halls for assets, 72 training workshops, equipment for 340 administrative and methodological rooms (including 90 libraries), 27 gyms and 86 kitchens. Now the equipment is being delivered to schools stage-by-stage.
In the 2019-2020 academic year, more than 6.17 million students will study in schools. Of these, 620,000 children will go to first grade for the first time.
On the first day of the school year, first graders will receive “Presidential Gifts”. Now the delivery of Presidential Gifts to educational institutions is nearing completion.
This year, great attention was paid to the quality of goods that were included in the “Gifts of the President”. Gifts consist of 12 items of educational supplies, including bags with reflectors, a ruler, notebooks, glue, pencils, etc. Gifts in a festive atmosphere will be awarded to first graders.
For the 2019-2020 academic year, 479 titles of textbooks for grades 1, 3, 8 and 9 were published and teaching aids. The total circulation amounted to 36.5 million copies.
When preparing textbooks and teaching aids for the new school year, the main emphasis was placed on content and quality that meets international requirements.
Another important point is that the textbooks included elements of the international PISA and TIMSS assessment programs.
Also, in the preparation of textbooks, attention was removed to games, exercises, tasks and assignments, aimed at developing the logical thinking of students.
For 8 and 9 classes, textbooks “Technology” were published in 7 languages. The textbooks “Mother tongue” for Grade 8 and “Technology” include exercises aimed at developing creativity and logic based on the requirements of STEAM technology.
In the textbooks “Geography”, “Technology” and “Fundamentals of State and Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan” for the 8th grade, the QR code technology is introduced. With the help of codes, students can receive additional educational material. Books "History" are enriched with cards.
For the 2019-2020 academic year, 60.6 thousand copies of 78 titles of textbooks for schools and boarding schools for children with disabilities were published. Of these, 8 textbooks are published in Braille for students with visual problems. Textbooks delivered to secondary schools.
Before the start of the new academic year, the state unitary enterprise “Ukuv Talim-Taminot” delivered 247,273 classroom journals, 99,440 journals for grades 1–4, 633,575 sheets for grades (grades 1–11), and 453,207 sheets for grades (10 -11 classes) and 15,000 journals of the account of study groups.
The Ministry of Public Education of Uzbekistan has approved a curriculum for the 2019-2020 academic year.
