A meeting with scholars of the Umid Foundation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An evening was held at the Banking and Finance Academy of the Republic of Uzbekistan with scholars of the Umid Foundation, created on the initiative of the First President to support the training of gifted youth abroad “A ticket to life”.
The meeting was held as part of the First President’s Memory Week from 26 to 29 August in accordance with the decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. PP-2744 dated January 25, 2017 “On perpetuating the memory of the First President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Abduganievich Karimov” and the order of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 133-f dated 25 February 2019.
The meeting organized by the Islam Karimov Republican Charitable Public Fund (RBOF) together with the First President’s Memorial Complex brought together graduates of foreign universities through the Umid Foundation, representatives of ministries and departments, public organizations, and charitable foundations.
At the event, speeches were made on the role of the First President of the Republic of Uzbekistan in reforming the education system of Uzbekistan, on the activities of the Umid Presidential Fund of the Republic of Uzbekistan to support the training of gifted youth abroad. Umid Foundation scholarship holders gave separate speeches, who graduated from the most prestigious universities in the world through this Fund and successfully working in various senior positions in Uzbekistan. They remembered the years of their studies abroad, talked about what they got and what a “ticket” to life turned out to be this education, as well as how their fate came about upon arrival in Uzbekistan.
A film about the Umid Foundation, as well as the activities of the Foundation named after Islam Karimov in the field of assistance to the youth of Uzbekistan in obtaining education in leading foreign universities was demonstrated.
At the end of the evening, the ceremony of presenting certificates to the winners of the Karimov Foundation grant competition for education in leading European universities through the magistracy for 2019-2021 took place. The certificates were presented by the wife of the First President Tatyana Karimova, who is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the Fund named after Islam Karimov.
The Umid Foundation for Supporting the Training of Gifted Youth Abroad was founded by President Karimov in 1997.
Thanks to grants from the Umid Foundation, from 1997 to 2002, more than 800 young men and women from all over Uzbekistan were educated at leading universities in the UK, Germany, Italy, Canada, the USA, France and Japan.
Exactly 20 years after the foundation of the Umid Foundation, in January 2017, the Karimov Foundation announced the granting of grants to young people of Uzbekistan to study under the master’s program at leading universities in Europe.
Over the past two years, the Fund named after the First President of Uzbekistan has provided educational grants to 32 young men and women from Uzbekistan to study in leading European universities.
