Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 28 August, as part of the official visit of the government delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the People’s Republic of China, the Minister of Innovation Development Ibrohim Abdurahmonov met with the Minister of Science and Technology of China, Wang Zhigang. The latter, in turn, praised the contribution of the Ministry of Innovative Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the establishment and strengthening of ties in the field of science and technology between the two states, noted the importance of establishing ties with Uzbekistan in this area for the Chinese side.
Abdurakhmonov noted that within the framework of scientific and technical cooperation of the Uzbek-Chinese intergovernmental cooperation committee, the Ministry of Innovative Development is working on the program “gifted young scientists”, which will further strengthen bilateral relations.
“At present, a competition has been announced for the internship of young scientists of the Republic of Uzbekistan in leading scientific centers of the PRC, the process of submitting applications for the competition is ongoing,” the Minister of Innovation Development noted. - In September of this year, a competition will be announced for 20 target projects. The projects of the winners will be funded by the Uzbek and Chinese sides from January 2020.
The Minister of Science and Technology of China, Wang Zhigang, said that in the near future the rules for holding and financing this competition will be sent to Uzbek partners, and by mutual agreement the rules for competitive selection based on transparency and openness will be approved.
“Youth is the most important link in society, and as long as we are focused on long-term profit, we must first of all invest in youth,” the Chinese Minister of China said.
An exchange of views between the parties on the creation and development of joint Uzbek-Chinese technology parks also took place. In particular, the employees and residents of the technopark in Uzbekistan agreed to undergo industry practice in China.
In addition, the issue of creating, in cooperation with China, a joint Medical Technopark for the chemical synthesis of medicinal substances (biologically active substances) was considered.
