National Center for Human Rights initiates training on monitoring prisons

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In Uzbekistan, on 3-7 September 2019, a training will be held on the topic: “Monitoring of penitentiary institutions”. Its organizers are the National Center for Human Rights and the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Uzbekistan.
The training participants will be specialists from the National Center for Human Rights of the Republic of Uzbekistan (NCHR), law enforcement agencies, and representatives of civil society institutions. This was reported by the Press Service of the National Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights
The purpose of the training is to familiarize with international and foreign experience in monitoring prisons and other closed institutions, gain skills in such monitoring and prepare reports on its results.
It should be noted that according to the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. PP-4056 adopted on December 10, 2018, the National Center for Human Rights of the Republic of Uzbekistan is entitled to freely visit penitentiary institutions, places of detention and special reception centers.
