Senate head meets with media representatives and bloggers
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 22 August, in anticipation of the twenty-first plenary meeting, a media tour was held in the Senate of the Oliy Majlis with the participation of representatives of the media, including television, radio, print, online publications and bloggers.
At the beginning of the event, a conversation was held between the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbaeva with the participants of the media tour.
During the conversation, participants were given information about the Senate in the first half of this year, its main tasks and the Senate’s protection of the interests of the regions on a state scale.
It was noted that among the priority directions of the Senate, ensuring the consideration of the interests of the people in the adopted laws, timely and full implementation of state and territorial programs, increasing the responsibility and accountability of executive bodies and officials to the people, further strengthening the authority of Uzbekistan in the international arena.
For, as President Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted, the Senate represents the powerful institution of democracy, which in practice demonstrates the political, legal and cultural potential of the national parliament, is a true spokesman and defender of the interests of the people.
At the same time, the participants of the media tour were provided with information about the plans of the upper house of parliament for the future.
The Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan announced the holding of a competition entitled "How does the Senate protect the interests of the people?"
It can be attended by representatives of the media, including television, radio, print, online publications and bloggers.
The main goal of the competition is to attract the attention of the general public to the activities of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis and senators, to prepare materials in the form of reports, photo reports, essays, television shows, radio essays, analytical materials, journalistic investigations, feuilletons, television programs, radio programs on the topics “One day of the senator”, “International activity of the Senate”, “Results of senatorial inquiries”, “Problems resolved by the intervention of the Senate”, etc. The competition will continue until 30 November.
The participants of the media tour received answers to many questions regarding the activities of the upper house of parliament, as well as various spheres of society, got acquainted with the workflow of the Senate committees and apparatus.
