Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 2 August, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko.
The President of Uzbekistan expressed sincere gratitude to Alexander Lukashenko and all the fraternal people of Belarus for the warm and cordial welcome rendered during the first official visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Republic of Belarus.
Heads of the two countries noted with deep satisfaction that Uzbekistan – Belarus summit brought bilateral multifaceted relations to a qualitatively new level, filling them with concrete practical content.
In particular, fruitful results of the Forum of Regions and the National Industrial Exhibition of Uzbekistan in Minsk were highly appreciated, as a result of which export-import contracts and agreements on cooperation worth about 300 million USD were concluded between leading enterprises.
Presidents emphasized the importance of continuing an active exchange in science, education, culture and art.
It was noted that the Days of Culture of Uzbekistan organized within the framework of the visit and the opening of a bust to the great poet and thinker Alisher Navoi in Minsk helped to strengthen friendship and deepen mutual understanding between people of the two countries.
During the telephone conversation, priority measures aimed at practical implementation of the agreements reached based on the roadmap, were discussed.
Particular attention was paid to enhancing cooperation in trade, economic, investment and innovation fields. In particular, promoting joint projects and cooperation programs in various sectors of the economy based on advanced technologies and knowledge of Belarusian enterprises was considered.
Following the conversation, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev invited President Alexander Lukashenko to pay an official visit to Uzbekistan at a convenient time for him.
Heads of states reaffirmed their commitment to further developing full-scale cooperation and strengthening friendship between Uzbekistan and Belarus.
