Uzbekistan plans to increase passenger car production to 350 thousand units by 2024

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan plans to increase passenger car production up to 350,000 units by 2024.
The President of Uzbekistan signed a resolution "On additional measures to accelerate the development of the automotive industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan"
According to the document, Uzbekistan also plans to update the model range of cars, including the production of a new modern car model, available to the general public.
The localization level of passenger cars will average up to 60 percent by 2024.
It is also planned to increase the production of trucks and buses to 10 thousand units.
At the same time, Uzbekistan plans to increase the annual export volume of cars to 100 thousand units.
In accordance with the documents, modern methods of corporate governance and an automated ERP accounting system will be introduced in the automotive industry.
It is planned to attract investors through an initial public offering (IPO) in the domestic and international stock markets for shares of at least two joint-stock companies that are part of Uzavtosanoat JSC.
The head of Uzbekistan instructed to develop a strategy for further accelerated development of the automotive industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan until 2023.
The President also abolished the excise tax on cars manufactured by UzAutoMotors as per contracts concluded after 1 October 2019.
From 1 October 2019, the fee for the purchase of new motor vehicles produced domestically is paid by vehicle manufacturers.
