Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A meeting of the Russian-Uzbek Mixed Commission on International Road Transport was held in Moscow from 10 to 11 July 2019.
The Russian delegation was headed by Alexey Dvoinnyh, Director General of the Rosavtotrans.
The Uzbek delegation was headed by Avazzhon Tursunov, Director of the Department of Road Transport Development of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The meeting participants noted the successful development of bilateral trade, a significant increase in road transport between countries. The volume of goods transported by road in the communication between Russia and Uzbekistan in 2018 made up 888.500 tonnes, which is 48% more than in 2017. The volume of import traffic increased by 29%, and export - by 75.7%. In the first quarter of 2019, bilateral traffic reached 211,800 tonnes and, compared to the same period in 2018, increased by 74.2%. The volume of import traffic increased by 1.5 times, export - more than 2 times.
Taking into account the current needs of national carriers, it was decided to increase the contingent of permits for carrying out transportation to / from third countries for 2019 to 5,000 permits. During the month it is planned to make an additional exchange of permits in the amount of 1000 pieces.
In order to create favorable conditions for the development of transport by the two countries, delegations agreed on a preliminary contingent of permits for the transport of goods to / from third countries for 2020 in the amount of 6,000 pieces.
The conclusion of new agreements allows to remove quotas from issuing Uzbek permits to travel to third countries. This issue will soon be considered by the Ministry of Transport of Russia. Thus, the issue of the lack of such permits that has existed since 2016 when transporting goods will be resolved, and the needs of Russian carriers in the Uzbek direction are fully met.
During the negotiations, the delegations of Russia and Uzbekistan discussed the regular transportation of passengers between the two countries and provided relevant information on issuing permits for the operation of regular international bus routes.
The participants of the meeting exchanged information on the regulatory legal framework in the field of international road transport. A discussion is planned on the creation of a Working Group on Transport in order to comprehensively address the issues of road, rail and aviation between Russia and Uzbekistan.
