Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Deputy Prime Minister Olga Golodets and Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov visited pavilion No. 66 at the Exhibition of Economic Achievements, where restoration work is underway.
On 30 May 2019, the governments of Russia and Uzbekistan signed an agreement on the creation in pavilion No. 66 on the territory of the Exhibition of Economic Achievements of the exhibition center “Exhibition and Cultural Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan”, according to which the pavilion and part of the land plot historically associated with it are leased to 49 years old.
“Uzbekistan is very attentive to the fact that this pavilion opens. This is a stunning pavilion. It conveys the spirit and atmosphere of Uzbekistan. The Prime Minister was here for the first time and expressed sincere admiration. For us, this is also a huge step forward, because we are closely cooperating with Uzbekistan on various educational and cultural events. And our cultural ties are constantly growing. The opening of the pavilion will be a great gift because the Uzbek side is very scrupulous about its museum concept,” the Russian Deputy Prime Minister said.
It is planned that the pavilion will be transferred to Uzbekistan in October 2019.
Pavilion No. 66 was built in 1951–1954 in the style of the Stalinist Empire style with motifs of Uzbek national architecture. The building was erected on the site of the pre-war pavilion of the Uzbek SSR, built in 1939, dismantled by that time. In 1966, the theme of the pavilion was changed - it was named “Culture”, becoming a platform for exhibitions and concerts.
In the post-Soviet years, the pavilion was used as a trading space for a long time. In 2010, it was reconstructed, after which the building was leased to the ROSIZO State Museum and Exhibition Center, which opened space for cultural events in the pavilion.
