Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 10 July 2019, an educational center was opened at the Center for Industrial Safety. At the event, global manufacturers of personal protective equipment (PPE) presented innovative products that can improve occupational safety in Uzbekistan.
Creating a training center at the Center for Industrial Safety is intended to solve a number of problems that currently exist in the field of labor protection. In particular, the Decree of the President No. PP-3913 of August 20, 2018 states that “over the past three years, 1,214 accidents have occurred at work, of which 241 have been fatal.”
The work of the training center will be aimed at introducing modern means of protection, familiarizing those in charge with foreign experience in labor protection, as well as reducing the number of occupational injuries by increasing the effectiveness of using PPE.
“For more than 11 years, our Industrial Safety Center has been developing regulatory documents in the field of labor protection. We help enterprises to implement corporate standards that comply with international standards. The activities of the training center will be aimed at creating safe working conditions for production workers. This center will be helped by foreign partners who, as part of the working group of the Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations of Uzbekistan, are working on a new technical regulation of the operation of PPE. The document will cover previously unaccounted risks. For example, one of the problems is the absence in regulations of such a danger as an electric arc. Accordingly, the labor protection services of enterprises cannot provide employees with special suits protecting them from powerful heat flow and burns. The use of outdated standards and means of protection jeopardizes the lives and health of people, and meanwhile the PPE every year becomes more and more perfect and provides greater safety,” Alisher Tilyayev, director of the Center for Industrial Safety, said.
The speakers at the opening of the training center were representatives of leading companies in the field of development and production of personal protective equipment - “ZM” (USA), JOHNSON PROFESSONAL (USA), ANSELL (Belgium), “League of Workwear” (Russia) - as well as representatives of state bodies Republic of Uzbekistan. International companies conducted presentations and tests of innovative means of protection, as well as familiarized guests with the latest trends in this field.
“Today, guests have learned from their own experience that the use of PPE can preserve human health. Frequent use of an angle grinder, popularly known as Bulgarian, causes hearing loss, oil, oil and other harmful compounds through the pores enter the blood and destroy the liver, and a fall even from a super low height (no more than three meters) can lead to serious injuries. From all of this protect industrial headphones, safety systems, special costumes, dermatological products. The latter are particularly rarely used in Uzbekistan. Meanwhile, in Europe and the United States, before starting work, a person applies a protective cream and puts on gloves, and at the end of the shift uses a cleansing and regenerating cream,” Alisher Tilyayev, director of the Center for Industrial Safety, noted.
Training courses on personal protective equipment will be held for specialists of enterprises and supervisory authorities of Uzbekistan. Also, one of the activities of the center will be the inculcation of the culture of using PPE, which will reduce the number of injuries received by an employee due to his own negligence and unwillingness to use the equipment provided.
