The President signs Law on Criminal Responsibility for the Illegal Collection and Transfer of Personal Data
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a law “On introducing amendments and additions to the Criminal Code, the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Administrative Responsibility.
According to the amendments, illegal collection, systematization, storage, addition, use, provision, distribution, transfer, depersonalization and destruction of personal data is punishable by a fine^
- per citizen - from three (608 thousand 190 soums) to five (1 million 13 thousand 650 soums) minimum sizes of salary;
- on officials - from five (1 million 13 thousand 650 soums) to ten (2 million 27 thousand 300 soums) minimum sizes of salary.
Performing such actions after applying an administrative penalty is punished with a fine of up to fifty (10 million 136 thousand 500 soums) of the minimum sizes of salary or deprivation of a certain right up to three years or correctional work up to two years.
These measures of responsibility come into force on 1 October 2019.
According to the law, the National Guard is assigned to the bodies, which can consider and investigate administrative offense cases.
